I have 4 slots for RAM, but am not sure if my pc supports quad channel ram. I ran CPUZID and it says I'm currently using dual channel. If my pc supports quad channel do I have to change from dual channel to quad channel in a BIOS setting? Or does the pc auto adjust when more RAM is added. I'm aware that you are not allowed to mix a DDR1 with like a DDR2 for example for RAM, but does that mean my graphics card has to be the same as well? If anybody has any suggestions on RAM to buy I would appreciate it as I am trying to upgrade.

Specs
Motherboard: Gigabyte P67A-D3-B3
CPU: Intel Core i5 2310 2.90Ghz
RAM: PNY XLR8 2x2GB DDR3
PSU: 500W

Solution

You can use all four. It will use all four slots if they are all populated but it will use the RAM modules in pairs, i.e. it will access them two at a time simultaneously.

If it were a quad channel system it would access all...
4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 32 GB of system memory
* Due to Windows 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than 4 GB.
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 2133/1866/1600/1333/1066 MHz memory modules
Support for non-ECC memory modules
Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules

Why is there 4 slots if it can only be used with 2?

Okay thank you, I thought dual channel meant just 2 slots and I thought 4 slots would be quad channel, now I understand that I have 4 slots which allows for dual channel.
