Does my router have a built-in modem?

I have a D-Link router (I don't know the model number). At the back of it, I see one WAN port and four LAN ports, which means I can connect it both to my PC and to the wall. Does this mean that the router has a built-in modem, or do I still have to buy a separate modem?

Per theyeti87 you need a modem.

However, a modem is generally provided by your ISP for some nomimal monthly rental fee.

You can buy your own but ISP support may be minimal - if at all.

Likewise if there is a problem involving your router, DLink may blame the modem.

With you stuck in between....

Check with your ISP. Any connected device will need to be activated.

This depends on what your service is and how it is provided.
Where does that wall plug go to?
