Have had my wireless router for at least 5 years now. It supports 11b, 11g, and 11n. I am building a new PC that has support for 6 e. The router is an Actiontec c1000A. Should I contact my provider and ask for a replacement of this archaic equipment.

N is re-classified as WiFi 4.

5 is AC
6 and 6E is AX (With 6E being 6Ghz and 6 being 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz)
Wifi 7 is also BE, though you are not likely to see that marketing term anywhere.

If your provider will do that, why not. Otherwise you will need to see about getting your own router, hooking it up to the Actiontec. But 5, 6, and 6E can exceed 1Gbps, so unless you have internet speed that matches, it is mostly pointless.
