Does my Video card support 144hz?

I have a Sapphire AMD TRI-X R9 280X 3G D5 and I have BenQ XL2420Z 144hz monitor and I plugged my DVI-D Dual link to the PC but cant play 144hz, only maximum 120hz at a resolution of 1024x768, If I want 1920x1080 I have to play it on 60hz... Pleese help
