Hello I built a new system maybe 2 weeks ago just got all my parts
cpu: i5-3570k
gpu: (friend lent me an hd radeon 5830)
monitor: takes in vga i've used it for years
psu: antec 750w psu not sure exact model
case: zalman z11 i think
ram: kingston hyper x 4x2 gigs
mobo: msi z77 g45 motherboard
hdd: i tried 3 different ones 1 i used to have and 2 other my friend gave me. all 160-250gb seagate barracuda 7200rpm drives
anyway so my issue is that when i tried to boot my system externally, there would be no signal to the monitor (using the integrated graphics) and it would fail to boot (i think can't be sure without a display).
I noticed i used the wrong screws at first so it left a little scraping on the mounts. The 6 dots that represent the mounting points all got mixed together by the scraping and my friends said it shouldn't matter. I also very thinly scraped the side trying to put the gpu in but it only shows a very thin silver mark.
My idiotic reasoning was "oh the motherboard clearly is at fault let's replace that!" so i rma'd it i had a 2 year warranty on it)
The reason i didn't test the gpu as well is because i didn't have a dvi to vga adapter and for some reason i was really convinced the motherboard was at fault. So if i luckily receive my motherboard back in one piece or get a replacement from newegg what should i do?
I mean i guess the first thing to do is check to see if the gpu works and send a signal. I'm really afraid it's the cpu's fault that the boot is failing and sending no signal to my monitor.
If the above is the case does microcenter replace parts? I really would hate it if it was a doa brand new cpu..
Okay i'm going to go back and edit this when i get home i just wanted to get this out here while I am free. Thank you very much for the help 😀
