Does not having enough ram cause game lag or freezes?

Alrighty so I was curious if not having RAM for my computer is the reason some games are complete [censored] at being able to play. GTAIV, I can play pretty good, and long with my commandline I have though after about 10-15 minutes the textures go crazy... And I try my best to record the game but not having textures or the textures being [censored] after a while is a major problem... I also play Arma 3, GTAV, and a few others but Arma 3 & GTAV are probably the worse... They both are laggy and just complete [censored] even when the graphics are completely low. Keep in mind I have GTAIV set on medium settings, but I have some mods and a good enb but I remain around 40FPS so It's not that it's laggy but the textures are bad at loading or staying. If anyone could help, I'd love them. Thanks, J.

My Specs;
AMD FX - 6300 (3.5GHZ, 6 core)
Geforce GTX 750ti (2GB of VRAM)
Some random 4 GB
And a hard drive with like 250GB
that's about it... It was a budget PC, still is.
Which should I update? The ram or the hard drive? I just want whatever lets my games play better.

Having that little space left on your hard drive will decrease its read/write speed, I recommend cleaning it up and then defragmenting. There's this lovely tool called Auslogics Disk Defrag, just make sure that when you install it that you don't forget to uncheck the boxes to install additional software like BoostSpeed.

To clean up your hard drive, I recommend deleting all files and uninstalling all programs that you'll never use. I then recommend running disk cleanup (open start and type disk cleanup) and checking everything and letting it run through, then doing it again except this time you run disk cleanup as administrator and once again check everything and let it run through.
are you sure you're using the word "textures" in the correct way? we would need to see what you're talking about or have you explain it better. it sounds like artifacting but i can't be sure. the card may very well be overheating and causing this. it doesn't sound like a RAM issue since textures in games are loaded into video memory, not system memory.

p.s. - did someone forget to read the forum rules? lol

Well, GTA 5 recommends 8GB RAM. I think it may be RAM at fault.

But, I think we should start by freeing RAM by disabling unnecessary startup objects. If you have Win 7, press Win+R to open Run and type in msconfig and press Enter. Navigate to the startup tab of msconfig and disable all programs that don't need to always be running. If you have Win 8/8.1/10 then press Control+Shift+Escape to open Task Manager and navigate to the startup tab and disable all programs that don't always need to be running.

Keep in mind that any programs that are running are consuming RAM and could be consuming some of the CPU's clock. Disabling these programs does not stop them from working, it simply stops them from running until you hit to open them. Don't forget to close them when you're done with them so that you can free up the RAM they're using. Some programs need to run all the time, like drivers. If you see anything that says AMD, Nvidia, Intel, Sound or Audio then leave them be. Also, antivirus programs should be left alone.

Yeah, I'm using it right I believe. Go onto youtube & search "GTAIV City bug" or something. That's what happens. And I don't know about it overheating... It has lots of room, only one fan but It's not like I'm pushing it or something. And I mean it's only 4GB of ram...
I've tried it normally, without an ENB and no mods and such and it lasts alittle longer but still happens.

lol Yeah, I didn't read the forum rules but I don't really care much about cursing... 😛

Yeah, I've done that alot... Kinda. Anything over 40k using resources gets deleted or removed or what have you. I have windows 10 and use task manager to put the games in higher priority. And yeah, I was thinking it was ram but heard it may be because I have a low/bad hard drive, which I only have about 9GB of free memory, but I could delete some videos and stuff and it'd go up to 50 or something but my hard drive is like 250 or something GB

It shouldn't be "pushing" my card though... My GPU has 2GB of VRAM which is pretty decent compared to the other people who have 1 or less yet they can still play.
