I'm building a new pc in the up and coming weeks. I will be streaming and gaming and doing some other multitasking stuff. I don't want to go with ryzen at the moment but I will be going with either the i7 8700k or the i7 9700k. I know the 9700k is better at gaming than the 8700k. While doing research i couldn't find anything about my question. Whichever answer I get will make my decision on what cpu to get.
Thanks in advanced

I can't find anything that compares the 2 CPUs directly but inferring from the results from testing linked below OBS looks like it slightly prefers thread count at a similar clock speed but is more dependent on raw speed. Since the 2 CPUs are so close in clock speeds out of the box I would imagine they'd have quite similar performance with the 8700k maybe being slightly ahead.

That being said I'd prefer the 9700k for the better performance in games and programs that aren't optimized for hyper-threading. With either CPU you will be more than capable of keeping up a 1080p/60 stream with zero issue on the CPU end.

In this case there is about a $50 difference between the 8700k build and the 9700k build. This is the most money i have ever spent on one thing.
Due to the 10 series cards having huge price changes because production has stopped on some cards the gtx 1070 is the cheapest gpu that i can still take advantage of my 144hz monitor.
