Does Old cpu need thermal paste?

Now i am using a intel core duo e7400 but then i decided to upgrade it to intel core duo e8400 do i need to put thermal paste there? just to be sure

Yes. Every CPU will benefit from thermal compound. It is just like greasing the pan when frying. The heat transfers to the food more efficiently. You want the heat to transfer to the cooler as efficiently as possible.
