Does OS HDD affect Stoarge HDD speed *test*

I will be setting up 4 drives in RAID 5 and I want to run some tests.

Will the OS HDD (60gb SSD) affect the time and speeds from the testing program, to the storage drives?

in some cases, yes.

The Windows Experience Index ONLY tests the C drive.

So will running HDTune from the OS slow the it down? The SSD is about three years old and isn't as fast as it used to be.

I have heard SSDs degrade with age. Another big factor is the filesystem becomes fragmented and chaotic slowing access down.
