cpu: i5 7400
gpu: gtx 1080 rog strix (a8g)
so i overclocked the gpu core clock by 100hz coudlnt go further is this a good overclock or normal ?? or did i lose gpu lottery?
and memory by 800 mhz
so will this improve or make the bottleneck more severe?

Seems normal. The manufacturer probably overclocked the core clock before sending it over, hence the high memory overclock.
cpu: i5 7400
i7 or the 8th gen i5 is recommended for 1080. Check Task manager > performance > CPU > right click graph > change > logical
If they get maxed, it's CPU bottleneck. GPU bottleneck would be 4K or running experimental settings like ubersampling.
so will this improve
It will improve it if the GPU is the bottleneck. If not, you might gain a 1% boost.

To answer your question, if your GPU is bottlenecked by a weak CPU, any GPU performance gained by over clocking is pointless. If it can’t even fully perform at stock clocks, then don’t bother overclocking. Save some extra strain on your GPU.
