Does overclocking GPU only increases FPS?

Hi guys.Although i have really high fps in games (i should say i used to have high fps beacause now im using a program which limits fps and it gave me good results but not that great) i get allot of stuttering and also i cant play some games smooth as i want.Because ,personally fps arent important for me (i prefer low fps but smooth gameplay)does overclocking make games smoother or it only increase fps?

Overclocking a GPU increases the base clock and frequency.
So primarily, at the same quality, it will increase only FPS...
The only reason a game wouldn't run smoothly is because the GPU is struggling to keep up with the quality/texture of the game... so if you overclock it, it will run smoother as it wont need to struggle as much...

Just remember, not all games are GPU dependent... some games like BF4 rely on the CPU...
You may also like to know that overclocking will reduce the life span of the component, it will also void your warranty. (id advise looking into getting GPU overclocking insurance)
You can buy overclocked GPUs which are still under warranty.

So for example if i have in a game 80 fps and after a second it jumps to 100 and then to 80 lets say and so on(you get the point ) after a 20% overclock i should have in that example 96 fps and then 120 or 80 and then 100 but the gap between those fps will be the same?thats what i need to know(some decrease in that gap ..i dont necessary need a maximum fps increase)

you could just put v-sync on which would cap it too your monitors hz

say if you monitor is 60hz it would cap the fps at 60 and would usually stay at 59-60

Ok that was an example but in general if someone has (not me in this case)less than 60 fps and he gets 30 to 40 fps..that vsync wont help ..se my 2nd post to know what i asked the last time

right to be perfectly honest the gpu will jump back and forth depending on surroundings in the game so.. some games for example borderlands 2 give you the options to cap your fps. there could be software out there to cap it not 100% sure but i have just delt with jumps from 120 to 240 before so i usually just vsync to fix it but just play around with the settings. overclocking wont change this it will just make it so you will get more frams so instead of say 80-110 fps you might get 82-112 fps.
