Hello guys recently i found out that my hard drive has been slowly failing, ever since then i have been trying to find a right replacement. I found one that i liked but it only has 5900rpm. I tried finding something better but i could not, so i was wondering whether my P7H55-M LE motherboard supports SATA 3?

Hard drives I am currently choosing from:

1) http://www.1a.lt/kompiuteriu_komponentai_tinklo_produktai/atmintis_hdd_ir_ssd/kietieji_diskai_hdd/seagate_pipeline_hd_1tb_5900rpm_64_mb_st1000vm002

2)http://www.1a.lt/kompiuteriu_komponentai_tinklo_produktai/atmintis_hdd_ir_ssd/kietieji_diskai_hdd/seagate_barracuda_7200_1tb_sata_64mb_st1000dm003_

Solution
The board only has SATA II. https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P7H55M_LE/specifications/
But that doesn't matter with HDDs. They can't even saturate the SATA II interface. SATA III wouldn't make any difference with a HDD. And yes, they are backward compatible, so you can use a SATA III HDD on a SATA II interface.

Either of those drives will work fine on your board. But as you surmised, the 5900 RPM drive will have slightly slower throughput.

Thank you very much i have been going crazy trying to find the answer. I will get SATA III since it has slightly faster RPM.
