I have Lenovo G40-30 which has Intel Baytrail Celeron N2830 2GB RAM and Intel HD Graphics (Baytrail). I usually play NBA 2K14 on it everytime and I worry if it can be the cause for the integrated graphics to fail but I always give my laptop high cooling when gaming. I have a PC before that uses integrated graphics on motherboard and I play games on it everytime too and suddenly when I boot up the PC there's some flickerings I saw and my PC never boot after it.

According to the title, yes. Yes, it is safe to play provided you are using proper cooling. As for your pc, it might have been the motherboard failing due to dust or heat. And remember that temperatures above 80 degrees will decrease the life span. I have played demanding games like Assassin's Creed 3 (with excessive lag) on my old intel built in GPU without any problems. Keep up the gaming! And upgrade whenever you can.
