Does playing Insurgency over an extensive amount of time daily, damage my laptop?

I have never been a PC gamer. I play games on consoles ever since i was a kid so i don't know much about the technicalities revolve around PC gaming. Recently, one of my friends introduced me to Insurgency and i'm hooked. But this friend also persuaded me to upgrade to a gaming desktop and told me the reason was because my laptop gets very hot during Insurgency sessions and he noticed it. I don't have the money right now for a gaming desktop, my budget is tight at the moment. I just want to know that is it safe for my laptop well being to play this game 6-8 hours a day? FYI, i do have a cooling pad but i don't know if it really helps. I play with the lowest settings possible with custom config file and performance boosting software like CPUCores and Razer Cortex. I love this laptop because the CPU is up-gradable even to a i7 3740XM, which is a rare ability for a laptop and beside Insurgency, i don't play any games on PC at all so i don't find it appealing to upgrade anyway.

My laptop specs:
Dell Latitude E6430 ATG
Intel Core I5 3210m (2.5 GHz)
16GB of Ram
No VGA, just Intel HD 4000
120GB SSD, 1TB HDD
14", 1366 x 768

82 is pretty hot I would say, do you usually play in "hot" environments such as bedrooms without much ventilation or air flow? For only 15 minutes it got pretty hot in a short time, I have a friend who played with temps around 79 to 80 in the past, nothing happened to his computer for 2 years, and when I mean "playing", I mean a load of very cpu and gpu demanding games than Insurgency. Sure keeping temps like this or above not for long periods of gameplay but for years will sure decrease your components lifespan but nonetheless if you still want to play and see how it goes, try to make the place in which you play more colder, or put the laptop on a flat surface or dock, also try to save energy consumption by tweaking energy options in...
Prolonged overheating will damage components but if your CPU is staying below say 80 degrees celcius you are fine. your battery may take a beating but there is really nothing to be done about that,

Install HWMontior or CPUz to check the cpu temperature while under load.

also i would put your laptop back on a book or something for better airflow

Could you describe how hot are these temps? Use a Monitoring Software like HWMonitor or RealTemp and post your temps here, so people can help you better with that, I know that Intel temps can reach 90C but they are not the safest temps out there, best is to keep those temps bellow 70C, if thats your case while playing Insurgency for long hour sections, then you are good to go.

LORDPrometheus, FabioXN7, my laptop air vent is on the left side and not on the bottom so nothing is obstructing its airflow. I will post the temps ASAP for you guys but let me reinstall the game 1st. The temp which my laptop is having right now at the moment with 6-7 web pages running (Chrome) is 41-52 Celsius for the 1st core and 44-58 Celsius for the 2nd core (using Core Temp). The maximum temp for my laptop is 105 Celsius.

Those are "OK" temps, not much different from my Desktop PC, waiting for temps in-game.

LORDPrometheus, FabioXN7, I just played for about 15 mintues with most background apps turned off, with CPUCores on (with both of these options checked: disable hyper-threading, isolate and constrain the operating system). The temp reached 82 Celsius for the 1st core, 89 Celsius for the 2nd core and while the game was running, the temp was in the range between 75 Celsius and 81-82 Celsius. So... I guess it's bad for my system, am i right?

Or Try these -

If you rather keep your notebook safe, cause you are not sure if you wanna keep playing or not due these temps then I would suggest on building a medium desktop pc for casual gaming.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for your thorough answer. Yes, i only play in my bedrooms and not only that, i live in Vietnam which is very hot and humid.
