i saw the corsair vs 550 psu selling for 50$ in my country(india).i saw some reviews that vs series are the worst in terms of quality .so i though of buying an another psu range which was cx 500.cx 500 was selling for 60$ in my country and 50$ in newegg USA .my question is will the power supply brought in USA work in india ?because of the voltage range changes?

the Corsair CX series supports both 110v and 230v , so it can be used anywhere in the world. Although it is not of very high quality, it should work fine in budget builds. If buying online, you may not receive the correct plug, so you might also need to buy an adapter so that the PSU can be connected to your wall socket.

is corsair vs 550 a good buy?since it's the same costs of corsair cx 430 and offers good rating.

this review of corsair cx 430 says that the unit is not 80+ certified at the bottom. http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story4&reid=214 also vs 550 also says it has 85% efficiency rate but since it doesn't offer 110 v operation it cannot be tested for 80+ certification

there were no reviews for vs 550.here are my specs
intel core 2 duo E8400 3ghz
nvidia gts 450
2x2gb ddr2 800mhz ram
500gb hdd
i planning to upgrade the components one by one .i need to know whether the vs 550 will fit for longer run

It definitely will ! Even if the VS550 only provides 400 watts, your system would still be fine. Your PC doesn't consume a lot of power. The CPU's TDP is 65 w , and the GPU's TDP is 106 w . The VS550 can even support a i5 + GTX 750 ti. But if you can afford higher end parts, I suggest you upgrade the PSU as well.

so what's ur final take?

Get the Corsair CX430. There are 3 versions of it
CMPSU-430CX - No certification
CMPSU-430CXV2 - 80+
CX430 (75-001666 / CP-9020046) - 80+ Bronze - This is the one you should get.

The VS550 is of lower quality. It will run your system fine but it won't last long. It is 80+ 230V EU certified

what about cx 500 from this link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027 i can tell my brother to buy there and bring it here as he is coming here next month.
