Does it matter if ram is on the qvl list of the motherboard?
I plan on tightening all timing manually anyway, but i've heard some rumors that there's some hidden timings that you can't access, and it might be better if the ram is on the qlv.
Or is this BS?

The QVL is an insurance policy, that specific part numbers have been tested to work by the motherboard manufacturer. Since you are not planning on running the RAM at manufacturer spec values, I don't think it is relevant to you.
