Does ram latency matter for gaming with a ryzen cpu ?

so im building a pc and i dont know what to choose for the ram
my cpu is ryzen 7 2700x and the gpu is a gtx 1080 and i will be using it for mostly gaming
and my question is : do i need a cl14 memory ? or i should be fine with the 16 ?
im thinking about the trident z 3200mhz rgb cl16 but alot of people toled me to go with the c14
and the price is 55$ higher and i dont know if its worth it or not , help me out guys

With that system you'd see 1 -2 FPS difference between those RAMs. and even less because of RAM latency.

In my opinion it's not worth that much more money and you may even lower it manually.

Possibly, depends on BIOS/MB/RAM combination. I was able to do it on my Kingston 3000 from Cl16 to Cl12 and this one to 15 from 17.

the motherboard is asus strix x470-f gaming and the ram is trident z 3200mhz c16 is it possible ?
and can i overclock it any further after lowering the latency to 15 ?and whats the cons of doing that ?

With higher frequency usually goes higher latency so you'll probably will have to choose between them. That Trident should be able to run at 3200MHz Cl16 for sure. Can't tell if it will be able to run at that or lower latency with higher frequency. Anything above and beyond XMP is not guaranteed because of many other factors. It's in "Try and see" range.
