Currently, I have i5 11400f, a 2k 75Hz monitor, and 2666Mhz 16gb of ram. I plan to upgrade my GPU to RTX 3070ti at the start of next year. I wonder should I upgrade to 3200Mhz ram too? Most videos on Youtube show that at 1080p 100fps+ there is a significant difference between 2666 and 3200mhz. I wonder does it even matter at 1440p 75hz?

My main goal is to play AAA games at around 60-75fps at 2k resolution. Also may I ask in case my GPU run at 99-100%, does ram speed even matter? For example, does an RTX 3070ti run at 100% with 3200mhz ram have a higher fps than an RTX 3070 run at 100% with 2133mhz ram?

Solution
Faster RAM will give you an FPS boost, tighter timings and lower latency......but anything over 3600mhz C16 is very much diminishing returns as it is not cheap. Also faster RAM is more important for AMD than Intel, both benefit but AMD more so. 3200mhz C16 RAM would give you a nice boost of a few % but do not expect faster RAM to massively up your FPS, there the old GPU and CPU are the ones that do the heavy lifting.

Also why not a 32GB kit (2 x 16gb sticks) if you are getting an RTX 3070ti, then you have no worries if streaming, doing other things in the background etc.....

If you're going to upgrade the ram with higher frequency kit, choose something that's at least DDR4-3600MHz or higher, provided your motherboard is a B560 or a Z series chipset. Tighter timings also help with frame rates. Just for the sake of relevance, include the specs to your build, as well as the BIOS version.

My current spec is:

CPU i5 11400f
Mainboard EX B560M V5 (support max 3200Mhz)
16gb ram DDR4 2600Mhz
GTX 1060 6GB
