Does screen tearing mean a faulty PC?

Hi all, I just got a gaming PC (CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 1300X, GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, 8GB RAM) and I’ve noticed that sometimes there is screen tearing (especially when playing Unturned and Fortnite). What happens is at first for around 30-45mins everything is fine then there is minor to moderate screen tearing. However, after an hour and 15 minutes or so there is moderate to severe screen tearing. I already have VSnyc enabled and simply quitting out of the game and relaunching it will stop the screen tearing and the entire pattern repeats. Basically my question is, is my PC or any of it’s components faulty (because its pretty much still brand new) or is screen tearing caused by something else? What confuses me the most is why is it fine at first then it starts to tear? Thanks!

Tearing happens when the gpu is trying to refresh the page and ends up doing it between the times the monitor is trying to refresh, ending up with artifacts that are called tearing.

The way to fix that is to match the fps put out by the gpu with the refresh of the monitor, syncing frames. Old school and worst is vsync, which leaves large gaps between caps. Nvidia adaptive v-sync is far tighter, and turns off sync for frames under the monitor refresh, basically stopping tearing altogether and avoiding stuttering for the most part.
