I have a tp-link router that I have that I'm planning to use as an access point for an existing wifi network. This may be a stupid question, but does setting up the router as an access point mean that you will have to make more wifi networks, or will it just extend the range of the existing ones?

Solution
Yes, you will make more WiFi networks, but you could use the same SSID on the AP as the main router
and it will blend in as one.
Why are setting the router as an Access Point?
Are you trying to cover WiFi dead spots (weak WiFi areas)?

Thanks. I'll set them up with the same SSID. I'm setting it up as an access point because I already have a nice router, but I live in a big house, so the signal doesn't reach the basement very well. Yes, I'm trying to cover wifi dead spots.
