Does size really matter?

Just a food for thought:

How much difference does it make in terms of the effort made by a graphics card on a PC, to display an information (say a full HD still image of a football) on a 21" display of 1080p, as compared to displaying the same information on a 42" display of 1080p resolution? [For e.g., a 21" LED TV vs 42" LED TV via HDMI]

Will the card have to alter the output, since it is supplying the same information to a larger amount of pixels?

Assuming that the image takes up the full screen on the 21" display and both displays have a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080, the same image might appear to be more pixelated on the larger screen. This is because both screens contain the same number of pixels but to fill a larger screen with that same volume of pixels, the pixels must be larger. Whether it's noticeable or not will depend on the users perception.
