I bought it many years ago for backup but never use it. It is bigger than regular coolers, used for overclocking. The package is still intact.

RGD didn't ask what cooler specifically it is out of idle curiosity, it's the key information to answer you question, without which your question is unanswerable. Though unless this cooler's company offers brackets that make it compatible, it is unlikely to work.

I wouldn't think so. Most coolers that were LGA775 might be LGA115x compatible, but certainly not LGA1700 as designed.

Now some LGA1700 boards still have the mounting holes for LGA115x/1200 so it is possible.

Given that LGA1700 CPUs can hit 220+ watts with ease, there probably aren't too many coolers from that era that could do the job effectively. Overclocking can push those CPUs well up in the 300W range.

I will tell you later on when I am home.

I am going to buy a mid-range 1700 CPU. A tough 775 cooler probably will do the job. The only problem is if it could be mounted to the CPU bracket.

That'd be a pretty low end cooler by today's standards no matter what, but it won't have an adapter for LGA 1700 and wouldn't be worth it if it did.
Maybe. But it is made with copper. Its heat dissipation is much better than similar products which made with aluminum. Anyway, I am going to buy a cooler for LGA 1700 CPU.
