Does the 6700K support 2666 MHz RAM at stock?

Hi guys,

excuse my dumb question but will my 6700K on stock clocks have problems with 2666 MHz RAM? I really hope I don't need to OC my CPU.

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Yeah that board can go all the way up to DDR4-4000. It may vary whether your CPU can handle that kind of speed, but that's not even close to being a concern for 2666.

So I basically just plug the RAM in and I'm good to go? No need to tinker with the CPU? What about those XMP profiles, I don't know a lot about them. Do I need to do something in the UEFI? Or just leave it as it is?

I wouldn't put the Deluxe isn't in the top tier of boards available in this price range. When it comes to memory support, it goes up to 3466. So it should have no issues at all w/ 2666. 30% of board owners on newegg have given the board a highly unfavorable 1 egg rating. You might want to peruse those with difficulties so as to be aware of known issues as many report issues with memory.

On the 1st page of reviews, 8 owners reported issues with memory slots or Q Code 55 (memory). Asus recommends updating to the latest BIOS for this issues, so you might want to do that from the getgo.... before messing with BIOS settings.

And yes, if not overclocking, all you would have to do is enable XMP. If you find it unstable when testing (Recommend RoG Real bench), bump DRAM voltage up a bit.

No, it goes up to 4000, not just 3466.

4 x DIMM, Max. 64GB, DDR4 4000(O.C.)/3866(O.C.)/3800(O.C.)/3733(O.C.)/3600(O.C.)/3466(O.C.)/3400(O.C.)/3333(O.C.)/3300(O.C.)/3200(O.C.)/3000(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666(O.C.)/2400(O.C.)/2133 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory

Only if you load the latest BIOS update, but the ones "on the shelves" are being advertised with 3466. That's one of the reasons I recommended installing the latest BIOS when the board arrives. Yes, newegg could be wrong and not updated their site when new stock arrived, but you won't have cause for return if you get 3466. But 4000 support is a more recent development and there will be boards out their ranging as low as 3466.

Memory Standard = DDR4 3466*(*O.C.)/ 3400*/ 3333*/ 3300*/ 3200*/ 3000*/ 2800*/ 2666*/ 2400*/ 2133

And then even more extras like DDR4 memory support up-to a whopping 3566 [obvious typo 3466]MHz

MEMORY: 4 x DIMM, Max. 64 GB, up to DDR4-3733+(OC)

BTW, the memory support is not the reason why I don't include the board in the top tier, primarily the number of highly negative user reviews and the high number of problems they have experienced as well as the Q55 and Windows 7 issues.

At this price point, I prefer to use the MSI XPower Titanium which has 1/10th of the % of highly negative 1 egg reviews by Board Owners ... 30% for the Deluxe and 3% for the Titanium

All of those boards support 4000. That's what Asus says.
