Does the Acer Aspire Intel Pentium B940 support Intel Core i7 Q720

regardless, a motherboard for a B940 will most likely not have the capability to properly cool a true quad core.

and with the age of both, you aren't getting enough improvement to make the effort worthwhile anyway

I found one on amazon for just $29.99

I think the cooling will be fine if I don't push the CPU but all the advice i am getting is negative and My will is strong, I am going to go for it.

Those cpus are different sockets. I know it's confusing but although they use the same number of pins they are different sockets and not compatible. The i7 is G1 and the pentium is G2. The i7 is higher watts, 45w so wouldn't suggest trying a higher tdp anyways.

As I understand the laptop currently has the pentium with is G2 so you need a G2 cpu. No first gen i series will work. Still without a cpu support list, which you might be able to get from acer, it's still a chance another G2 cpu won't work. If you look up the model number, it may have been configured with other cpus which would work.
