Does the Asus z97-a Require a hdd to POST?

Title says it all, i know most motherboards don't require an HDD to post. But I'm wondering if the asus z97-a mobo needs a hdd to post, i want to do an out of box test.

No. Just ram (or get ram error), cpu and video card.

No should be able to get into BIOS without any drives connected.

i got a boot_device_led when turning the motherboard on. Has anyone tested it without a HDD?

Does it post though - load the bios screen?

No it does not post :/ I'm thinking its a defect
