Hi, I really need a new router and it seems my ISP offers a Linksys E4200 Dual Band router. It's tempting, however I'm not sure if my devices even support 5Ghz. I have a new Acer laptop that has the sucky Atheros AR5BWB222 WIFI card and I'm curious if that one supports dual band.
Also how long is the 5Ghz range, I move my laptop a lot so that's a factor.

without you Laptop model it is hard to find this out but i did happen to stumble across this from: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6066/acer-aspire-v3571g9435-the-value-proposition

802.11n dual-band 300Mb WiFi (Atheros AR9462/AR5BWB222)
Bluetooth 4.0 (Atheros/Foxconn/Hon Hai)
Gigabit Ethernet (Broadcom BCM57785)

this is the best I could come up with because every thing is driver related when you search out the model number of that wireless card. Like I said, it will be easier to get a better answer if you told us the make and model number of the Laptop it came in.

EDIT: the range of 5GHz is less than 2.4 but the channel is much cleaner so while connected you will get a lot less interference. If you find that the range is not enough you can always get a range extender.

Oh sorry. My laptop is Acer Aspire V5-573G. It's brand new, manufactured in July last year.

Oh, that's a little bit disappointing. So I guess i'm just getting a regular router.
Although, my computer differs slightly from that one. I have 4gigs in graphics memory. The site i bought it from says: 300Mbps WiFi n 802.11bgn

and I found a number: 5420125akk
