I need to get 2x128 SDRAM, what brand is good? I currently have 1 (128) already, but I don't know the brand, if I were to get other brands, does it matter? I have an ASUS CUSL2-C board.
Thank you very much.

Usually, mixing brands will not matter. If you want high performance RAM for a good price, check out www.crucial.com.

The RAM you get from www.crucial.com is some of the best RAM out there. Crucial is the manufacturer of the RAM itself.
I myself haven't seen any Asus RAM around... :)

Then how come I have to choose a manufacturer when I go to www.crucial.com? Sorry man, I don't know anything about hardwares, I do web designs.

Nevermind, I got it. It's the manufacturer of the motherboard I had to choose. I feel stupid now =P
Can a 128MB SDRAM (don't know what brand) mix use with a 256MB SDRAM (Crucial)?

Usually, it should work, as long as your motherboard will support the 256MB DIMMs.

The ram will mix but you may get low performance form your cheap memory and the good stuff will have to run at the speed of the cheap stuff to make it work. You don't need to pick out your memory by motherboard manufacturer, you can pick it out by type there too. Pick the "select memory by type" button or whatever it says, pick 168 Pin Dimm PC133, get the size you want for PC133 at Cas2, because Cas2 is faster and cost almost the same price.

I know the motherboard supports for PC100/PC133, and the board's FSB is 133, but my CPU is running @ 100MHz though, is that ok? Or FSB has nothing to do with memory? You've mentioned something like this under "motherboards" already, but I didn't quite get it, sorry. What does FSB do? PC100/133 means the memory speed right you said?
Thanks

Your motherboard can support your CPU at 100MHz FSB or overclock it by 33% by setting it to 133. As far as the memory goes, PC133 is backwards compatable to PC100 speeds. But in your other post you said your processor was a PIII 600, which should go to 133 just fine. Buy the PC133. And make sure it is Cas2.
Your motherboard actually supports every socket-type PIII made! Stock setting would be 100/100/33. With PC133 memory you can overclock your 600 to 800 by selecting 133/133/33. With PC100 you would normally set it to 133/100/33 to get your processor speed up. So choose the PC133 and get better performance.

What's "Cas2"? So I can use PC133 SDRAM without overclocking since you said it's backards compatable to PC100, is that what you are saying? I have PIIIE 600/100. If I were to choose the PC133 SDRAM, then I'd better set it to 133/100/33 instead of 100/100/33 (stock setting?)?

1)Yes, you can use the PC133 at sstandard settings (100/100/33) for your processor (your processor is 6x100).
2)You can get even more performance by setting you processor to 133, and with PC133 memory, the setting would be 133/133/33. Your processor would now run at 800 (6x133)
3)If you want to overclock your processor to 800 but use the old PC100 memory, set it to 133/100/33 (FSB at 133, Memory at 100, PCI at 33). You ONLY need this setting if you use PC100 with the processor at 133FSB!
Finally, for the best performance, the 133/133/33 setting will give you 800MHz, and 133 Memory speed. So the 133/133/33 setting requires PC133. Every other setting can use either PC100 or PC133, because PC133 can run at either speed.

I'm assuming this is what you mean (correct me if I'm wrong please):
1) PC133 SDRAM will give me more performance, and I could use it because my motherboard's FSB is 133 (without overclocking) (100/100/33).
2) I'll get even more performance if I overclock the CPU to 133 instead of 100, and if I do decide to use PC133 memory, I'd have to set it to 133/133/33. Then the CPU will automatically run @ 800/133??? (6x133)
3) I'm confused about this one: I don't plan to use my old PC100 memory anymore, I'm just going to use PC133 memory (3x128MB), do I still set it to 100/100/33???
4) There're different SDRAMs for PC133 (128MB) @ www.crucial.com, the differences I see are:
1. CL=3 • Unbuffered • Non-parity
2. CL=2 • Unbuffered • Non-parity
3. CL=3 • Unbuffered • ECC
4. CL=3 • Registered • ECC
5. CL=2 • Unbuffered • ECC
6. CL=2 • Registered • ECC
What do CL, UNBUFFERED, REGISTERED, NON-PARITY, AND ECC mean?
Sorry to bother you so much, and thank you so much for being so patient with me.

I've been hearing that Corsair memory goes through extensive validation on Asus boards, meaning that you have the best chance of good results if you go with Corsair. Mushkin memory is also good; I'd rank Corsair and Mushkin about the same.

1.)PC133 only works faster when set to 133. The 100/100/33 setting uses it at 100, which still works. The 133/133/33 setting uses it at 133.
2.)Yes. The only thing to remember is that it may require a slight voltage increase, one of the first things you will see in BIOS.
3.)If you want to overclock to 800, set it to 133/133/33. If you want to leave it at 600, set it to 100/100/33.
4.)Use #2, CL=2 unbuffered non-parity. The other stuff is for special configurations and servers.
