Question Does the Ethernet adapter/adaptor replace the functionality of a LAN cable? If not, why?

Hi,I own a laptop that doesn't have a LAN port and I don't know how to get internet from my laptop for college. If I will insert the adapter will i get access to the internet or do you require other devices?

If you have a laptop without a LAN port, then it is probably because of the thickness of the device. Your laptop may have a docking station option to provide a LAN port or you might have to get a third part docking station. What is the exact model number of your laptop ?
