I want to know if the z77 is compatible with my current pc specs.

specs:
CPU: intel core i5 2500K
GPU: gtx 970 STRIX ( I will buy this soon, it is the reason i want to ask about this motherboard).
Memory: DDR3 8GBytes. 798.1MHz.
Current Motherboard: Z68 pro3 AsRock.

Solution
Your CPU is Sandy Bridge architecture, which only supports PCIe 2.0 speeds. Your ASRock Z68 supports PCIe2.0 speeds as well. The Gigabyte board supports 3.0 speeds, but not with that CPU so upgrading won't gain you anything. So unless there's something I'm missing, you're just as well off to use the board you have with that graphics card as it does have a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot and should be compatible.

Unless of course you plan to upgrade the cpu as well.

But if you just want a new board or you do plan to upgrade the CPU then it will be fine.
