E ekoostik Distinguished Sep 9, 2009 1,327 0 19,460 Dec 16, 2009 #3 It depends on which i7 you are looking at. Some only work on x58. Others only work on P55. The i7 9xx CPUs only work on the x58, socket 1366 motherboards. The i7 8xx CPUs only work on the P55, socket 1156 motherboards.
