Does the intel core i3 work on my dell optiplex 380

I have to upgrade my computer and now i have core 2 duo processor E8500 3.16 ghz.
Now u wanted to play games which works on core i3 or core i5.

No; they use a different socket. You need a new motherboard along with the new i3 or i5.
