Does the LGA 1150 socket support 2nd Gen Intel processors?

I am thinking of getting a new motherboard that has a LGA 1150 socket but I'm not sure if it will work with my Intel i7 2600k processor. I haven't been able to find much info as I know it says 4th and 5th gen ready but I'm not sure if that means it doesn't support 2nd.

Will it work?

No, it won't since the i7-2600K requires LGA1155.

No 2nd generation processors (Sandy Bridge) are ONLY supported by LGA1155!

Thanks everyone for your answers and clarification so I'll pose a second question:

I recently got 2 GTX 780's that I wish to run in SLI so that's why I buying a new MoBo because it doens't have the PCIe setup required.

Because my i7 2600k only supports LGA 1155 should I buy a new processor to save money having to upgrade my MoBo again later and if so what Intel processor do you recommend in term of processing power and price?
