Does the Manchester 3800+ dual core have any headroom?

I have a AMD 3800+ Manchester dual core (running 1.3 volts) on a MSI 7185 N Force 4 board Rev A3/Bios 6. -1GB Corsair DDR400 value ram at 3.0 cas latency timing 4 4 8 command rate 2T. Zalmen Artic cooler Antic case with added 120mm fans top and bottom and x1800xt with stock cooler. PSU 450 Antic true power. Any headroom here for a overclock? If so what should I look for? Thanks ILT 😀 How much and what type of ram would you suggest as I have noticed on these AMD Dual Cores you loose some speed on the ram after 2 sticks

I Love Tacos is on the money. Yes, there is headroom. Not as much as Core 2, but you should get anywhere between 2.6-3ghz on a 3800X2 on good air cooling(for the higher clocks).

Missed the manchester part. Yeah, I had a couple Manchester cores which clocked as high as 2.65 and 2.7ghz. So, once again, sorry about the misinformation. The newer cores can reach 3ghz, but you would have to have a 1 in a Million to get a manchester that high.

Well the Devil is in the Details I will check the stickies fo instructions but from what you have said I will probley see more results by OC the X1800XT graphics card. :roll: Thanks for the input. I built this rig (first build) when the 3800 first came out and now I'm getting antsey to try my hand at something else.

You should be able to get 300-500mhz more out of that processor.Goodluck.

Well it's the Zalman 7000B. I had room for it with the Antic Sonata case. It had good reviews,was 25.00 US on sale and has brought temps down by 10deg. So I guess I have been happy with it but it was my first build like I said so I don't have near the experiance of the rest of you. I will check out those brands you mentioned in the future. Do you have any experience overclocking a windsor core? I have the following and would like to OC:

M2N-SLI deluxe (0609 bios)
AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ (2000mhz) stock cooling
Corsair XMS2 2048-6400 C4 4,4,4,12,2T

Using the asus ai booster I can get 10% overclock no problem. I was just thinking about overclocking in the bios to get to 2.4ghz and then stop.

Any advice?

Thanks for the quick reply. I wonder what is up with the date of the Ram purchaes? I purchased it about two weeks ago. So that might make a difference? So you think that I should keep vcore at about 1.35 and then just up the ht until I max out. Once that heppens add a divider to my memory, i,e, 667 mhz, and then continue on? Do you see a need for changing the processor ratio?
