Hello,
Does the number of pages indicated per cartridge for a colour laser cartridge relate to just that cartridge or the total of all three cartridges (ie. 1300 pages for a cartridge so does that mean 1300 pages total for all three or 3900 pages for all three)?

It means that for that particular color, it will print about 1300 pages at a certain % of that color coverage per page. If you print all black or mostly blue colors, the red will last longer than the others, so there is no way they can list a page total for all colors on each separate cartridge.
