does the nvidia gforce gtx 730 gddr5 work on a 300watt PSU

The 730 runs on PCIe slot power alone, so it should be fine. That said, if you're running a pentium 4 chip the card won't work (most likely) so no point in asking.

Question is - what is model of your motherboard? and does it have a free PCIE slot?

P4 era hardware is ancient by today's standards. First you need to check if your motherboard even has a PCI-E slot. What is the model of your motherboard? And what OS is the PC running? Your PSU should be fine for the GT 730.
