Does the power supply cord amperage rating matter ?

Hello, I own this PSU : http://www.seasonicusa.com/S12II-Bronze.htm

And I own this surge protector : http://www.belkin.com/in/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=638136

I have bought all the parts and am about to start building.

Now this surge protector says it's rated at 6A and 1500W. I live in a place with mains voltage at 220V. The problem is the PSU came with a cable rated at 16A@250V. This cable fits into the sockets of the surge protector but I am apprehensive about using a 16A cable in a 6A socket. The PSU is rated at a max of 620W which is a lot below 6A@220V. So should I just go ahead with it ? There is no issue mechanically with the fit, but do I need to get a socket converter anyway ? I am also not sure how a socket converter would be able to turn a 6A max surge protector into being capable of 16A, because after all the PSU is connected to the socket through the protector. So would it even work ?

It doesn't matter. Think of it this way: You're using a shackle rated for 500kg to hang a 100kg object from a 200kg-rated mount. Getting a smaller shackle isn't going to improve the safety; it's fine as is.
