I just built a new system with a Ryzen 7 7700X using the Gigabyte B650 Gaming AX V2 motherboard. I went to boot the PC and the CPU light stays red. The power supply I’m using is older and came with a prebuilt PC I used (High Power HP1-J600GD-F12S). It’s 600W and has 2x4 CPU power. Is this causing the issue? Does it need to be a newer PSU or more wattage with 8 pin CPU and the additional 4 pin?

How old is the PSU and what did it power prior to this post?

Did you try connecting the 8(4+4)pin EPS connector onto the 8pin block on the motherboard?

Thumb rule with PSU's, if your PSU lacks the necessary connectors for your system/build, then you have;
a| the wrong PSU for your build
or
b| the wrong components for your PSU.

How are you cooling the processor? Inspect the CPU's socket for any bent or broken pins.

This listing has better details https://a.co/d/7plinIF

I’ve been using it since 2020. It powered fine for my old i5-11400F and same GPU. I had the 4+4 connector in place and that’s when I am getting the red CPU light. I am using the Phantom Spirt 120SE for cooling. No bent pins. Reseated CPU and cooler and still the same issue.

Edit: I believe it’s a bent pin on the motherboard. There is a pin in the top section that looks like it is angled down. Going to return it and get a new one.

Replaced motherboard and still the same issue. Starting to lean towards a dead CPU.

A 8-pin CPU connector can supply up to 300 W. So if you plugged in the 4+4 pin cable you should be fine, according that the PSU is working properly.

How did you get the CPU? Was it new or refurbished? If it was supposed to be new, was the box sealed? Although it's possible that a brand new CPU is defective, it's extremely rare.

What are your RAM (brand, model and timing), your GPU and your CPU cooler?

This is what I bought: https://www.microcenter.com/product....VX4.bJxFnX&us=B1346_TextToMe&uc=B1346&um=sms

I currently do not have my GPU installed to lessen the possibilities. My cooler is a Phantom Spirit 120 SE. Everything is new. Boxes sealed. I am
having a friend put his CPU in my board to see if it boots. That’ll tell me if I have a bad CPU.

Dumbest solution ever. It ended up being the reset switch header for the case was causing the motherboard to not POST. As soon as I unplugged the reset switch header, the computer booted normally. I’m thinking my reset button might be stuck or just shorting out.
