Does the Samsung P2770 still hold it's own?

Just getting back into the swing of things, doing some research on monitors and newegg has the Samsung 27" hdmi Full HD monitor for $299... this seems unbeatable for price/performance.. Curious as to what else in this price range can give this display a run for it's money.

P.S this is the "Graphics & Displays" Category, but there's no specific Sub-Categories for Monitor related stuff? no sure how to SubCategorize this one but any feedback is much appreciated.

I have the P2770HD, which is basically the same thing as the P2770FH but adds an OTA tuner. Love it. It still has the older style fluorescent backlight - makes it thicker, but I find LED backlit displays to be uneven in brighness. I think Costco has both models available with discount at the moment - can be had for $270, but add tax. Doesn't help you if you're not a member though.

I use mine for video/graphics editing, watching streamed videos and blu ray movies, and gaming (mostly FPS) with the PS3 and PC. Works great.

For $300 I would at least want 1920x1200 or IPS personally.
