Does the "Windows easy transfer" software from microsoft apply to windows 7 and xp?

I would like to transfer files from windows XP to windows 7, and the person I'm doing this for, needs to have 0 data loss, and be able to use his computer as normal, afterwards.

it will carry over all documents and settings. It will grab all pictures and even an outlook.pst

excellent news. One final question, if I may. You said it will carry over an outlook.pst. Will it carry over the emails inside of outlook 2000, to windows 7? Which version of outlook should he use on windows 7?

I have never tried with that version of outlook, but if I am not mistaken it is the same exact path so it should work.

I doubt it is the same path. XP= c:\documents and settings\user\aplication data\microsoft\outlook\outlook.pst 7= c:\users\user\etc. The utility might know where to get it. Just make sure you do. Outlook is such a pain!

Okay, so. I believe the windows easy transfer gives me a .pst file which I can extract to get the information I need, yes? I hear outlook is hard to get running on windows 7, but outlook 2010 will be fine to use on 7.

Yes and yes 2010 will work fine. 2003 works fine as well.
