Question Does thermal paste need re applying even if it is still good?

When I first got my ryzen cpu I used the stock cooler but now I am getting an aio water cooler. I have only had the pc for about 2 weeks, will I need to reapply the thermal paste and use new paste or can I keep the one on there?

You need to clean and apply new paste or use the pre-applied paste on the new cooler. I personally use MX4 , but the pre-applied paste is usually decent.

For best results, yes. Thermal paste should be re-applied each time the cooler is removed. Otherwise, air bubbles can form and reduce cooling capability.

The AiO typically will have pre-applied thermal paste. So the old paste should be removed anyway. For custom builders, it's always good to have extra thermal paste available to you.

The AIO cooler may already have pre-applied thermal interface material (TIM) on it or it may be an included tube of thermal interface material. Always remove/clean off any old TIM before applying new TIM.

You don't need to, but I would strongly recommend it. Depending on your AIO, you might not have to buy thermal paste, as some AIOs have paste pre-applied to the water block.

I am buying a cooler master one and from what I have seen it comes with a small tube of thermal paste. I will make sure to reapply it. Thanks all
