I currently have a M5A97 LE R2.0 with a FX 4100, Im planning on upgrading my processor to a FX 9590 but according to PC Part Picker, the 2 items are incompatible.
But a FX 8350 is compatible according to the site.

Is this true, please explain to me how it is :) They're both AM3+ socket types.

Edit : I've read other posts, and the 9590 has a 220 TDP, but the other processors have less than 140 TDP, Even if it says that it isnt supported, can I still get a 9590 but cool it very well? I have a 800W psu as well :)

nope. While the cpu can FIT in that motherboard, the motherboard can't handle the power required to run that cpu. i would not use that motherboard with that cpu. not unless you like starting fires in your pc.

for that cpu i wouldn't use anything less then a GA 990FXA-UG3, or a m5a99fx Evo R2.0; and i'd only use those boards if you had VERY good case airflow. If you aren't sure about your case airflow or want to be assured the cpu and board won't have issues, i suggest just going all in and getting an Asus Crosshair V Formula

If you must try an 8 core on the board then cooler wise go for a raijintek Pallas - it offers vrm as well as CPU cooling & is your best chance.

Had great success with it on 4+1 phase boards like yours & its currently running a 6300@4.3ghz on my own Asus matx board which has the same vrm setup.

Good news - At christmas in 2015 I switched to Intel I got a ASUS ROG Maximus VII Hero and i5 4690k which is now at 4.4GHz :D Its so much better than my old M5A97 LE R2.0 and FX 4100. This makes a big difference, with the FX 4100 and my R9 280x I get around 6000 on firestrike, now with the i5 I get 8000. Certainly better than a FX processor in my opinion and cheaper too
