I'm not sure as I'm puzzled as to why onboard graphics does not mean graphics are on the motherboard. Looking at the specifications online it does not indicate graphics is dependent upon CPU.

I'm coming from a world where integrated graphics means the computer would produce output irrespective of CPU.

Not anymore. The "onboard" gpu's are nowadays integrated in the cpu. Some old AM3 motherboards might stil have an integrated gpu,but Ryzen needs an APU where the gpu is integrated in the cpu.

The motherboard that you ask about does btw support the Ryzen 2200g/2400G from the first bios so no problems there. Keep in mind that overclocking will not be able with that motherboard. For that should you best go for a B450 since still reasonably priced.

I think that I deduced the answer. Integrated graphics does not mean integrated on the motherboard but on CPU die graphics.

So yes, the motherboard would require a separate VGA card.

Many thanks for the replies.

I find the nomenclature of integrated graphics on the motherboard unclear and misleading at worst.
