I am buying a new computer from xtreme gear it looks like. Tell me if you think this computer will perform alright. How long do you think i will be able to hold onto it for, before it is outdated? It is $965.60 after shipping and a 5% discount. Tell me if you think something should be changed. I figured i could add a second 8600 Gt in a year or two when they drop in price by the way.

That is a lot of money for that machine especially since that is a 500 series board and the newer ones are 570 and 590. You good build a much better AM2 X2 machine for aound $700, which would include everything including the OS, keyboard, mouse, and speakers. If you didn't want to put it together yourself, could probably have a local shop, not Bestbuy or CompUSA, put it together for about $30. If you've never built before, check out this manual and see if you'd be comfortable doing it. Not necessarily recommending this board but the instructions are pretty much the same regardless of the board you get

just another thought. a computer shop near me offers a deal if you buy the case and or mother board they will assemble your computer for you (and give you a warranty that includes free check up if something goes wrong)
I bought my mobo there (cost $12 more than the same model on newegg) for the warranty at a place I could walk to and got every thing els online. assembled it my self because, well I wanted to.
