Does usb tethering use hotspot data?

I've recently started using usb tethering to use my pc because my hotspot was almost out. but it started being slow and I then get a text saying I used 100% of my hotspot data. when I wasn't even using it

Tethering whether via hotspot or USB uses your data.

so you are saying that they use the same data? I thought usb tethering used my phones data not the hotspots

If your phone is the hotspot then yes. If you are using a separate hotspot then no.

It actually makes perfect sense. You are paying for x amount of data and you can use it either way.
