Does Virtualization Impact Performance

Just a quick question; does enabling virtualization in the BIOS affect the host machines general performance when not running virtual machines? I use virtual machines every once in a while, but I don't exactly need them on a day to day basis. If I were to enable virtualization and just leave it on, would my computers performance for general things like games and programs be affected much? I used to have virtualization on all the time, but I never really thought about it.

Solution
"when not running virtual machines?"
That should not affect performance unless you've reserved a portion of the CPU to dedicate to Virtualization.
not at all. virtualizations entire purpose is to make the VM run faster and better. if you disable Virtualization the VM (when you decide to run it) would require more resources from the system slowing everything down. by turning it on you are just ensuring that when you do run a VM it will have all the resources it needs.
it is not stealing from Peter to pay Paul, Vt is a feature of the CPU and will only make VM perform better

Alright, thanks! I didn't know if, when it's enabled, it adds an extra layer to calculations or sets aside a part of the cores to virtualization if needed.
