Does windows 7 enterprise require a server?

i help at a charity, we have qualified for windows 7 enterprise, I know it's good for network booting and use with a server. Does it have to have a server? Or central deployment? Can it work on standalone machines?
Any help would be great, not my area of knowledge at all

Windows 7 Enterprise appears to be Windows 7 Ultimate that is sold only preinstalled on business computers. It works on corporate desktops and laptops so it certainly doesn't have to be a server, although it's possible it requires special drivers. Perhaps someone else knows more...
