[SOLVED] Does windows actually boost fps?

Hello there guys. I've been using 80% of my life windows 7 and never really thought of this idea "Windows 10 is better for gaming and browsing stuff". When a new game comes out, in the minimum requirement says Windows 7, and in the recommendes Windows 10. Can someone please go into detail to why Windows 10 is better for gaming and browsing? Thanks for your time and answer in advance 👌

In general the latest version will always be "recommended." Also the newest hardware drops compatibility for older Windows versions (due to influence from Microsoft systems based off 8th/9th gen Intel only support 10. AMD Ryzen can also be hard to get working).

Historically advanced Windows versions require higher specs (think of the huge XP->Vista jump) but since 7 that's greatly leveled off. Win 8 and above were designed to run on a range of forms including tablets with lower specs after all. Windows 10 does exclusively offer the newest Direct X version which may offer improved gaming graphics.

Actually, compared to other OSses, windows slows apparent execution of the computer it's installed on.....drastically.

Then again, not many of the games that people are wild about are ported to non-ms OSses, so there you go; however, it remains that windows slows a machine down horribly.

The recommendation that favors win10 over win7 is merely because people are in the consumer cattle chute and it behooves everyone if you move to the newest release, and cut their work and costs of supporting older OSses with drivers down; and newer OS releases are focused more on the newer hardware platforms, and the hardware sales folks LOVE that.

It's a symbiotic relationship between software producers, and hardware manufacturers; and its goal is to regularly separate you from your money, chasing after the latest and shiniest trinkets offered for sale.

For gaming Windows 10 supports DX12, that may or may not be beneficial. For DX11 there is negligible difference between 7 & 10.

As for 10 and browsing, the only thing I see is 10 uses Edge instead of IE which is supposed to be more efficient and more secure. However if you use a different browser then this point is mute.

"Edge" is just the new name for "Internet Explorer". They are both equally bad.

Most consumers aren't going to run non-MS OSes regardless of performance; the world runs on Linux servers and phones (through Android) but the year of the Linux desktop looks like 20-never.

Anyway, the other (non-performance related) benefit of running the newest Windows is current security update support and software support in general. Windows 7 is less than a year from losing official MS support and though third party software still tends to support 7 that won't last forever either.

What is the difference between 7 and 10 in terms of DX11🤔

Simply put. No. Different Windows versions do NOT increase FPS for gaming.

The only differance going from Win 7 to Win 10 would be having up to date software along with DX12 compatibility which allows you to run newer games that use it.

Windows 7 I believe was more bloated with background process's which could in theory bog down a older CPU which in turn could make your gaming experience worse.

to expand on something else, newer software support eventually extends to games - so at some point the latest titles won't be released for 7 anymore...
