Question Does Windows Server know when drive in raid fails?

Hello, I would like to know if Windows server 2008 is able to detect that one of the the drives in Raid has failed.
If not, is there a way for the Raid to communicate about failure? Beeping or email, anything.
I'm using Windows server 2008
Old HP desktop server with ORCA v8.20.60.00
Any help would be much appreciated!

This is likely in the wrong category maybe a mod will move.

I know actual servers from HP and Dell have the ability but I don't know if the microsoft OS itself has the ability. There likely is third party stuff, you very likely get some event in the event monitor when it happens that a program could key off of.

It depends on if the driver for the raid card communicates that to the OS.
