Does writing on a CPU IHS affect temperatures?

NOTE: this isnt my main system, it is a computer that a friend had given to me...

I have a core 2 duo E8600 with the writing on the CPU being almost unreadable after installing IC-diamond 7 (im now using Arctic Silver Ceramique). If i write on the IHS, will this affect the core temps in any way?

It might, but shouldn't significantly.

I'd write near the edge; the die is in the centre.
