Doing clean install of windows 10. To keep my game saves, is all I need to do is copy my documents file and save it in cloud?

Got a new motherboard, CPU, and ram and I'm going to do a clean install of windows 10. To make sure my in-game saves aren't lost, is that all I need to do is copy my documents folder to the onedrive cloud? I know I can redownload my steam and origin games but not all of their saves are in the origin and steam folders. Sometimes they're in documents.

You will have to check each game to be 100% sure. Most are in documents(they may or may not be in the my games folder under documents).

Steam has cloud saves for some games so they will be re-downloaded assuming you have not switched the feature off.

You do not have to use onedrive or other cloud storage if you have a second drive or external drive. In general the internet is not as fast as a second drive, external drive or flash drive.

I have all my save games on another drive(in my NAS). In my experience Windows 10 reset also does not touch other partitions on its drive. I always disconnect extra drives just in case. Always backup important files before reinstalling an OS just in case.

I just use an external HDD (you could just save it to a different drive other than C) to backup all game saves that are in My Documents for games. Games like Dark Souls have saves located in another folder, I forgot which. Steam cloud saves only save online content. GTA V now has saves on its own cloud.
